It took nearly two years and 3,000 pages of study by Champagne Technologie of France to decide upon Narayangaon, nestled in the surroundings of the Sahyadri Valley, as the idyllic setting for a world class winery and vineyards. The detailed study of soil, climatic conditions, rainfall and topography that matched the Champagne district, France for viticulture of World famous wine grapes such as Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Shiraz, Malbec, Viognier, Grenache, Arkavati, Arkeshyam, Ugni Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Zinfandel, Muscadet, Semillon and Chenin Blanc.

Until 1982, Narayangaon was a small obscure dot on the map of India, which over the last two decades, has manifested itself as an international viniculture region sprawling over 1000 acres of prime vine plantations, with additional 1500 acres under cultivation. International viticulture practices of grafting specially imported wines classified as vitis vinifera onto root stalks was widely used during the growth stage of vineyards with extensive use of French wines. Chateau Indage has also pioneered the use of ancient Indian varieties such as Arkesham and Arkavati grapes along with Thompson seedless and Bangalore Purple. The lime-rich and chalky soil married to a controlled macro-climate in the Sahyadri Valley strike a perfect balance for the cultivation of grapes from strong disease-free vines that produce consistently high yields with quality and uttermost purity.

Chateau Indage produces sparkling and still wines from two state-of-the-art, automated wineries that have commenced the very first and the only producer of bottle fermented sparkling wines in Asia and the ninth in the world.
